Botanical Gardens
Botanical garden in Ooty is one of the must see destinations for tourists. The sprawling 22 hectare garden at an height of 2,400m above sea level. The Botanical garden is home to indigenous species of trees, shrubs, rarest of flowers. The greenery is a treat to watch and the garden house one of the rarest tree fossil that is 20 million years old. Find in the garden Italian garden, fern house, orchids and pool. The garden is under the control of the Horticulture Department of Tamil Nadu. The Todas, indigenous tribes of Nilgiris live here. The Summer Festival is popular and the flower show attracts lakhs of visitors every year.
   

Doddabetta peak
The highest peak in the South India is 2,623m in height. The place has immense tourist significance and is just 10km from Ooty. The valley below is breathtaking and is worth a picture. From the peak the plains of Coimbatore and the land of Mysore are visible during a clear day. The Telescope House can help you catch a better view of the place. Trekking is allow on the hills.
   

Rose gardens
The Rose Garden is located at just a kilometer from Charring Cross sprawling on a 10 acre land. The garden is popular for its rose collection that boasts of around 3600 varieties of roses including miniature roses, ramblers, black rose, green rose, hybrid tea rose, floribunda and more. From Nila Maadam is a point from where the entire garden is visible. The rose garden is maintained by the Tamil Nadu Horticulture Department. The World Federation of Rose Societies awards the Garden of Excellence award in the year 2006, a rare recognition that just 15 gardens around the world were presented with.
   

Wax World-(Wax Museum)
The Wax museum portrays the culture of the place. Though not as polished as the Madame Tussauds the place is definitely an important tourist destination. The museum is located inside a 142 year old bungalow and the sculptures are worth a watch.
   

Sims Park (Coonoor)
Sims Park is located in Conoor and is home to more than 1000 plant species. The park is spread over 12 hectare. The park can be seen in the deep ravine near the Conoor Railway station. Sims Park is placed at a height of 1768 to 1798m.

   

The Tea Factory
A visit to Ooty and not visiting the Tea Factory may not complete your tour itinerary. The fresh aroma of tea dominates the place. The place shows you how tea is processed and packaged. You can buy some fresh aromatic tea back home from here. The place could be a delight for kids who want to learn the process of tea making.
   

Boating at Pykara
The tranquil lake of Pykara supported by its thick vegetation is a nature’s delight for travelers. The lake is surrounded by forests. There is a boat house by the Pykara falls. The dam is also a prominent tourist location. The boathouse and restaurant is cool resting destination for travelers who want to submerge in the scenic beauty of the lake.
   

Falls at Pykara

Echo Rock
Laid out in 1848, the government Botanical Gardens is located at the slopes of the Doddabetta peak. The terraced garden is maintained by the Tamil nadu horticultural society and covers an area of 22 hectares. The best time to visit the place is anytime except the monsoons. Now this place will be the first thing the people would mention when you visit ooty, and well, in my opinion it is pretty awesome. Now be prepared for a long walk when you visit this place, I would advise you not to get any kids or people who can’t walk for long.
   

Avalanche
Avalanche is 25km from Ooty and is the ideal destination for trekkers. Those who want to have fun with trekking must visit this place that promises a breathtaking experience.
   

Emerald lake
Emerald Lake is 25km from Ooty and is located in the upper plateau of Nilgiri hills. This place is an ideal picnic spot for family and student tourists. Nature is at its best here with the birds and ducks giving the lake a warm and spectacular view that you can cherish a lifetime.
   

Ooty Boat House
The Ooty Lake covers 65 hectares and is a manmade lake. The lake was formed during the British era in the year 1824. The boathouse is famous among visitors. Every year boat races are conducted during the month of May. The boathouse offers boating facilities to tourists.
   

Mudhumalai
Mudhumalai is located in the Nilgiri Hills and is spread on 32,155 hectare. This sanctuary is located in between the states of Kerala and Karnataka. Mudumalai is situated at a height of 1000m. Some of the wild life spotted here are leopard, wild dog, langur, macaque, bonnet, spotted dear, Indian muntjac, rodent, wild boar, flying squirrel, elephants, sloth bear and more. The sanctuary has the reputation of being the finest in the country.
